Knowledge Centre

CDS


CDS is a knowledge centre with learning and teaching as the prime focus of its activities.  The centre has the responsibility for the design, organisation and delivery of learning programmes that are aimed at bridging skills and knowledge gaps to meet the different levels of competencies expected and required of the professional practice in the creative industries.

In offering its expertise in professional training and development, CDS identifies learning needs and assesses learning outcomes through a pedagogic framework designed to engage the professional as a reflective practitioner.

The activities of CDS are built around its core capabilities of curriculum design, development and delivery.  This includes offering training programmes to individual professionals and companies in partnership and collaboration with art and design institutions.  The centre also offers corporate training services and customised workshops and courses for corporate organisations.

Design Practice & Enterprise Centre

 DNA 


DNA is a design practice and enterprise centre that supports the development of a spectrum of design businesses in the discipline areas of architecture, landscape, interiors, exhibition design, product design, furniture design, textile design, jewellery design, graphics design, digital media design, animation, moving images, advertising, photography, fashion design etc to build a community of multidisciplinary creative enterprises.

The role of the centre is to promote reflective practice to drive professional development, especially in relating the practice to learning.  It builds a community of multidisciplinary creative enterprises distinguished by its professional competence and confidence in both creative capabilities and entrepreneurial business development.

The centre provides guidance and practical tools to help design enterprises achieve their business goals, to increase their capacities to own and manage sustainable design businesses, and to broaden their capacities to generate increased business returns through professional training, and strategic and creative business development.

Skills & Knowledge Transfer Centre

DMC


DMC is a skills and knowledge transfer centre that supports the growth and capabilities of both the DNA and CDS.  It undertakes a consulting role in research-driven projects to aid realisation of the value of design and design management in organisations and businesses to achieve sustainability and success.

In its role as the research-driven consulting arm of CNG, DMC focuses on the conditions of the professional practice environments, which are ever evolving, and responds to advance the interests of the industries through the activities of DNA and CDS.

The co-existence of DMC, DNA and CDS ensures the blurring of the traditional boundary between praxis and theory.  It functions to ensure that learning takes place within a community of creative enterprises where collaborative synergies and shared experiences can be translated into the professional practice.
